Adam Romain is an Osgoode Hall educated Civil, Criminal & Human Rights Trial Lawyer. He has devoted much of the past two decades towards advocating on behalf of the wrongfully accused as well as victims of accidents, discrimination, and employer misconduct at all levels of trial courts, administrative tribunals, and appeal courts in Ontario.
Mr. Romain began his career even before graduating from one of Canada’s most prestigious law schools. During his studies, he was selected as one of a handful of students admitted into Osgoode Hall Law School’s Innocence Project. Following the completion of his term, he was hired by the school to continue his clinical work vindicating the wrongfully convicted. In this capacity, Mr. Romain was part of the team that worked alongside famed criminal defence lawyer James Lockyer to secure the release of Romeo Philion, a man who had spent 31 years in jail for a murder he did not commit. At the time this was the longest wrongful conviction in Commonwealth history. This set the stage for Mr. Romain’s dedication to the fight for justice that continues to define his career to date.
Mr. Romain founded Romain Law PC after having practiced as a Civil Litigator in an insurance litigation boutique that focused on personal injury law. Opening this law firm allowed him to expand his reach and represent the needs of more people who face injustice. In particular, he focused on defending the rights of disabled accident victims, protecting employee rights in the workplace, and representing those accused of criminal offences.
Mr. Romain is one of a select few litigators who practices both civil litigation and criminal law. This broad base of knowledge and experience allows him to provide unique insight for his clients because he knows more than just one area of law. The scope of his work ranges from tackling social justice and human rights issues to representing executives and professionals.
Mr. Romain is a strong advocate for victims’ rights, advocating for disabled trauma victims and others who cannot stand up for themselves. He ensures that his clients’ voices are heard in pursuit of a justice that will meaningfully improve their lives, as well as make their communities better.
